Protest of youth of Shush in front of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Factory
Dozens of educated and unemployed graduates in Shush staged a rally in protest over unemployment and reinstatement of retired workers on Friday, February 19, 2018, in front of the door of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company.
The protesting youth said they worked hard on their education, but the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company, which has the only possibility to work in this area, refuses to employ young people. Even in administrative, agricultural, security, service, and other jobs which is easy for young and educated forces to work in, the company still refuses to hire youths and uses retired people in order to pay less salaries.
Until now, unemployed young people have been protesting and wanting to work at the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane, but no response has been given. The youth have argued that they will not stop their gatherings and protests until their demands are met.
